Educational robotics in elementary school: tools, activities and learning

Vassillis KOMIS, Professor, University of Patras, Greece

In this paper we study the place of educational robotics in the elementary school setting. First, we propose a taxonomy of robotic tools that can be used in class, based on an analysis of their technological affordances. Then, we present a set of didactic activities, designed on the pedagogical affordances of the analyzed robotic tools. Finally, we discuss some results on learning from (and through) robotics, based on our own research with students aged 4 to 8.
